Welcome to Ballyntyne

When billionaire investor Henry Prescott Ballyntyne III passed away in 2010, he left a generous bequest to the “Ballyntyne National Golf Club Preservation Trust.”  The gift?  A plot of land—his former vacation estate and hunting grounds—and an undisclosed sum of money, with simple instructions to his Trustee:  “Build the course I dreamt of.”  True to the vision of Mr. Ballyntyne, the Ballyntyne National Golf Club has been designed and built to be one of the most prestigious, exclusive, and challenging golf courses in America.

Situated in Northwest Georgia, about two hours outside of Atlanta just off Interstate 75, Ballyntyne National’s Membership includes many of the social elite from Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, Charlotte, and Columbia, such as multiple Fortune 500 Company CEOs, foreign dignitaries, and business and investing magnates, many of whom were close personal friends of the late Mr. Ballyntyne.  Now the Membership includes you.

Built to both challenge the Membership and be easily convertible into a championship golf course, the Members play to a par 72, measuring just over 6900 yards from the middle-back tees.  For professional tournament play, the ninth and eighteenth holes, both typically five-pars for the Members, play as long, grueling par fours, making the total par 70, clocking in at a stern 7240 yards if the course is stretched to its maximum length with the Championship tees.

In Mr. Ballytyne’s philanthropic spirit, the Members are committed to growing the game through outreach and charity.  Each summer, the First Tee of Greater Atlanta makes a field trip to Ballyntyne National for a summer golf camp, where the junior golfers get to stay in the Manor House and receive instruction from the Club Professional on the world-class practice grounds and the course itself.

The Members are currently bidding to host a Ryder Cup and possibly even a major championship in the future.  With a course this lush and challenging, they are convinced it will only be a matter of time.
